Four ancient pantheons collide in a hack-and-slash RPG that sends a lone champion from the sands of Egypt to Troy, the Norse realms, and the Aztec underworld. Loki frames its adventure around Seth’s return from death, with the gods demanding aid while monsters, rival deities, and mythic disasters spread across the world. The tone is pulpy and action-heavy rather than scholarly, using familiar legends as a backdrop for constant dungeon crawling and boss hunting. Seeing figures such as Thor, Achilles, and the Minotaur woven into one sprawling campaign gives the journey a pleasingly old-school fantasy-crossover appeal.

Players choose between four distinct heroes: a Norse warrior built for direct melee combat, a Greek fighter, an Egyptian spellcaster, and an Aztec shaman with spirit-focused abilities. Combat follows the classic action-RPG formula of clicking through swarms of enemies, managing health and mana, collecting piles of equipment, and investing in increasingly powerful skills and spells. Each class approaches encounters differently, so a weapon-heavy brawler feels markedly unlike a caster who clears groups with supernatural attacks. Randomized environments, item drops, and character builds encourage repeated runs, while online or local multiplayer lets a party of heroes cut through the campaign together.

The loot system is Loki’s most interesting twist: weapons consist of separate components and materials, allowing players to forge combinations with different properties rather than merely replacing one sword with another. Runes further modify gear, creating room to chase specialized elemental or damage-focused setups as tougher enemies arrive. Its presentation and quest flow show their age, and the game rarely matches Diablo II’s polish or Titan Quest’s scale, but the mythology-hopping setting remains unusually broad. Fans of older PC action RPGs, especially players who enjoy experimenting with loot and skill trees, find plenty to like here, while newcomers should expect a deliberately old-fashioned grind.
