Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter

A hard-edged sci-fi mystery drives the action as disgraced special-ops officer Mace Griffin hunts criminals across a rapidly expanding human-and-alien frontier. Framed after a mission goes catastrophically wrong, Mace takes bounty work while following clues that point toward a much larger conspiracy. The tone lands somewhere between a space-western serial and a gritty early-2000s shooter, complete with smugglers, corporate schemes, hostile extraterrestrials, and a protagonist who solves most problems with a blaster. Its central appeal is the way it moves between boots-on-the-ground firefights and cockpit combat without treating either as a side distraction.

Most missions begin with investigation or travel through stations, settlements, and industrial facilities before escalating into first-person gun battles. Mace carries a selection of futuristic weapons, fights human mercenaries and alien threats, uses cover where available, and occasionally tackles simple objective-based puzzles such as finding access routes or activating systems. At key moments, he pilots his spacecraft through open space and enclosed combat zones, engaging enemy fighters, avoiding hazards, and completing pursuit or destruction objectives. Progression is primarily story-led rather than role-playing focused: new locations, weapons, and mission scenarios arrive as the conspiracy unfolds, while checkpoints and enemy encounters reflect the demanding conventions of its era.

The standout feature is its comparatively smooth blending of FPS and flight-sim action, a combination few story-driven shooters of the period attempt with this much ambition. Neither half is as deep as a dedicated space sim or a top-tier arena shooter, but switching from corridor gunfights to dogfights gives the campaign a welcome sense of scale. Expect angular character models, old-school level design, and some roughness in the controls and presentation; those quirks are part of the package rather than surprises. Fans of Star Wars: Dark Forces, Red Faction, or early Halo-era sci-fi shooters should find plenty to enjoy, especially if they value a focused single-player campaign over modern polish.
