Navigation becomes the adventure in this minimalist indie metroidvania, where the familiar act of filling in a map replaces traditional side-scrolling action. You pilot a small ship across several planets, tracing routes through compact interconnected spaces while searching for the way back home in time for dinner. The tone is playful and lightly mysterious rather than grim, with quirky bits of lore tying its worlds together without getting in the way. Its premise sounds simple, but the focus on spatial awareness makes every newly revealed corridor feel like a genuine discovery.

Progress revolves around charting unexplored rooms, finding items, and collecting upgrades that expand your movement options. New powers open previously inaccessible sections while also letting you zip around completed regions more efficiently, creating the satisfying backtracking loop expected from the genre. Instead of testing reflexes through enemy-heavy combat, the design asks you to read layouts, identify barriers, and work out how separate paths connect. Beyond the main planetary journey, Puzzletroid mode offers 40 short, self-contained map problems, while Zentroid mode provides 40 calmer spaces meant purely for relaxed exploration; a dialogue-free speedrun option and hidden hard mode add further ways to play.

Maptroid: Worlds stands apart by making the map itself both the world and the interface through which you understand it. Its clean, abstract presentation turns unexplored territory into a visual puzzle, and the expanded multi-planet structure gives the sequel more room to develop its ideas than the original browser release.
