Battles revolve around exploiting enemy weaknesses and collecting blood, which powers potent transformations but risks pushing heroines into dangerous Blood Skelter states where they can turn against allies. Jack serves as an unusual field tool as well as a fighter: his Nightmare form can smash through obstacles and help evade pursuit sequences, though confronting an immortal Nightmare is usually about escaping alive, not winning.

The standout feature is how its systems reinforce the setting’s horror; blood is both a resource and a liability, while the dungeon itself feels hostile and alive. Its maze design rewards players who enjoy methodical automapping and party optimization in the tradition of Dungeon Travelers, Etrian Odyssey, and older Wizardry-inspired RPGs, but the more visual-novel-like story and anime character focus give it a distinct identity.
