What separates MENACE from a straightforward XCOM-style campaign is its wider operational pressure: missions unfold through branching objectives, and choices such as saving civilians, destroying defenses, or cultivating informants can change later opportunities. Procedurally assembled maps and missions keep the campaign from becoming a memorized sequence, while the large equipment pool encourages experimentation with specialized squads and vehicle roles. The blend of planetary politics, battlefield attrition, and evolving officers gives failures consequences beyond a single lost encounter.
