Raiden trades stealthy infiltration for blistering sword combat in a compact, absurdly stylish cyberpunk action game. Set several years after Metal Gear Solid 4, the story follows the former child soldier as he works private-security jobs in a world where cyborg soldiers and corporate warfare are routine. A mission gone catastrophically wrong sends him after the mercenary group Desperado, turning a political thriller into a personal revenge tale full of wild speeches, giant machines, and unforgettable villains. The tone is unapologetically over-the-top, but it still gives Raiden a meaningful struggle with violence, identity, and the instincts he tries to suppress.

Combat revolves around Raiden’s high-frequency sword, which can slice enemies, vehicles, scenery, and even individual limbs with remarkable precision. PlatinumGames’ combat design is the real attraction, combining the responsiveness of Bayonetta with the mechanical precision of a parry-focused character-action game. Its cut-anything tech is more than a visual gimmick; it creates satisfying finishers and makes every major encounter feel uniquely physical. The PC package includes the Blade Wolf and Jetstream Sam story chapters, VR challenge missions, and several cosmetic armor bodies, adding worthwhile replay value beyond the main campaign.
