Between expeditions, Io strengthens relationships through events, gifts, and room improvements, which unlock benefits and makes long-term party management more meaningful.

Its biggest appeal is the enormous roster of roughly fifty recruitable monster girls, each with distinct combat uses and collectible appeal. The controversial purification minigames lean heavily into suggestive anime humor, so players uncomfortable with overt fan service should know exactly what they are getting before starting. Beneath that layer sits a competent, approachable crawler with enough party experimentation to reward RPG fans who enjoy building specialized teams. Players who like the dungeon structure of classic first-person RPGs but want something brighter, stranger, and far less serious than Etrian Odyssey are likely to find plenty to enjoy.
