Game Overview

A diseased foot drags you upward through a thirty-story apartment block, and the rest of your body has no choice but to follow. MOLDRISE is first-person survival horror built around an unnervingly simple compulsion: climb, even as hunger, thirst, and fatigue turn every floor into a problem. Its retro presentation and oppressive soundscape create a grimy, low-fi nightmare where the tenants are not supernatural creatures, yet their requests become increasingly unsettling. The horror comes from desperation, strange social rituals, and the growing realization that everyone in the building is circling the same hidden truth.

Each attempt begins in the same tower, with the same residents, vending machine supplies, trade opportunities, and thirty floors waiting above. Survival depends on managing basic needs while learning which neighbors can provide food, useful junk, access, information, or a crucial favor in exchange for something else. Progress is knowledge-driven rather than dependent on random layouts: failed climbs teach you efficient routes, worthwhile deals, shortcuts, and the real use of items that initially seem meaningless. The infected limb imposes constant pressure, so planning matters, but improvisation remains essential when your resources run dry or a resident’s demand sends you back down the chain.

What separates MOLDRISE from more conventional roguelites is its fixed, densely authored environment. Rather than asking players to master procedural maps, it turns repetition into investigation, gradually making a hostile building feel legible without ever making it safe. Mike Klubnika’s original soundtrack, following his work on Buckshot Roulette and s.p.l.i.t., reinforces the industrial dread with a tense electronic pulse. Fans of compact experimental horror, cryptic item economies, and games where each failure reveals a little more of the design will find plenty to chew on; players wanting combat-heavy scares or a forgiving survival experience may find its relentless structure harsher.

After extracting MOLDRISE (v1.0.5), navigate to the _Redist or _CommonRedist folder inside the game directory and install DirectX, Vcredist, and any other dependencies included.

What should I do if the downloaded file is corrupted?

Why should I run the game as administrator?

Right-click the game executable and select "Run as Administrator" to avoid save file issues and permission errors. This is especially important on the first launch.

How do I update my GPU drivers for this game?

MOLDRISE (v1.0.5) requires a NVidia GTX 950 or similar or equivalent. Update your NVIDIA or AMD drivers to the latest version for the best performance.

The game won't launch — what should I try?

Try running in compatibility mode, install the latest DirectX runtime, or install the All-in-One VC Redist Package.

My antivirus is blocking the game — is it safe?

Antivirus false positives are common with pre-installed games. Temporarily pause your antivirus during extraction to prevent it from quarantining game files. You can re-enable it after the extraction completes.
