CatLab’s robotic test mazes turn a simple cheese run into a brisk, cartoonishly cruel obstacle course. MouseBot: Escape From CatLab is an indie platformer built around guiding a mechanical mouse through laboratories designed by feline scientists who clearly enjoy overengineered destruction. Giant crushers, spinning graters, mines, laser grids, and acid pools fill each chamber, giving the game a lighthearted slapstick tone even when a mistimed jump sends your mouse to pieces. The goal is straightforward—reach safety, gather cheese, and uncover what the cats are planning—but the constant trap variety keeps the route ahead tense.

Movement revolves around running, jumping, timing hazards, and choosing safe paths through compact maze-like levels. Across 88 stages, new environmental problems demand quicker reactions and more careful positioning, while unlockable transformations expand how the mouse handles land and water sections. Death is part of the learning process: failed attempts are fast, visually amusing, and useful for memorizing trap rhythms rather than becoming a major setback. Cheese collected during runs acts as a reward currency, letting players earn cosmetic skins and accessories for their mouse, while the separate Arcade mode pushes speed and precision with a faster, more demanding format.

What stands out is the game’s commitment to readable, toybox-style danger; every trap looks ridiculous, yet its timing can be genuinely exacting. It has the accessible, level-by-level appeal of mobile-friendly platformers, but its later courses reward the patience and repeat attempts associated with tougher precision games. Customization does not radically alter the challenge, though it gives completionists a reason to revisit stages and chase more cheese.
