Mutant Mudds Deluxe is a colorful action-platformer built around chunky pixel art, chiptune energy, and the demanding jump patterns of the 8-bit era, but it never feels like a simple nostalgia exercise. Its bright worlds hide a surprisingly tough adventure as Max searches for Water Sprites that may finally erase the Mudds infestation. The mood stays playful and upbeat even when its compact stages start testing reflexes hard.

Each level asks you to run, jump, hover with Max’s jetpack, and spray enemies with a water cannon that doubles as your main offensive tool. The defining mechanic lets Max shift between foreground and background planes at marked portals, turning what looks like a flat 2D route into a layered obstacle course full of alternate platforms, secrets, and sudden hazards.
