Australia’s 1880s frontier becomes a blood-soaked alternate-history battleground in this single-player first-person shooter. Ned Kelly: Armored Outlaw begins at Glenrowan, where the real Kelly Gang’s last stand ends in disaster, then imagines what happens if the notorious bushrangers survive the police assault. The result is a gritty revenge tale shaped by class conflict, colonial authority, and the legend of men pushed outside the law. Rather than presenting Kelly as a simple criminal, it leans into the outlaw-as-rebel angle, pitting him against corrupt police, wealthy landowners, and an uncaring government.

Players fight through hostile encounters from a first-person perspective, relying on firearms and the gang’s famously improvised metal armor to withstand a vastly better-equipped force. Survival is the immediate priority during the opening raid, but the larger conflict revolves around overturning the authorities hunting the gang and pursuing their dream of an independent North East Victoria. Combat is built around direct gunfights, with the heavy armor offering a distinctive defensive identity while also evoking the cumbersome reality of the Kelly Gang’s historical gear. The strongest draw is its unusually Australian setting, one rarely used for shooters, alongside its willingness to turn a familiar historical defeat into a full-blown speculative rebellion. Kelly’s armor gives the action a striking visual hook: a folk hero in crude iron plating facing down rows of colonial police feels very different from another military shooter. Expect a smaller-scale indie production rather than the polish or mechanical depth of a major FPS franchise, but its premise carries genuine personality.
