Neffy -Moonlight Labyrinth X- casts you as Novalis, a summoned guardian guiding a young shrine maiden through a maze built around shifting routes and ancient devices. Rather than relying on combat spectacle, the game finds its tension in keeping Neffy safe while deciphering how each chamber functions. Its lighthearted character moments and cute presentation soften a setting that can still feel mysterious and hazardous.

Progress comes from alternating between Novalis’s elevated, hands-on view and Neffy’s ground-level perspective. Novalis can operate oversized machinery, channel lunar power into locked routes, and directly assist Neffy when obstacles become dangerous. Touching her can restore lost health, while transforming her into a black cat grants the mobility needed for higher ledges, narrow openings, and routes inaccessible in human form. Puzzles ask you to judge which viewpoint reveals the missing clue or mechanism, then use each character’s strengths to move deeper into the labyrinth; a controller is required, so keyboard-and-mouse players should look elsewhere.

The dual-perspective structure is the main attraction, turning simple room-by-room puzzles into a cooperative-feeling exchange between an all-seeing protector and a vulnerable adventurer. Its origins in VR show through in the tactile interactions and sense of physically reaching into the environment, but the non-VR version keeps that intimacy through controller-focused controls and expressive animations. Neffy’s fully voiced reactions give the pair more personality than the usual silent puzzle-game duo, making success feel warm rather than purely mechanical.
