The Village stands apart through its unusually severe protagonist: Eymerich is not a conventional sympathetic detective, and the story uses his uncompromising faith to create a harsher perspective on supernatural horror. Its detailed environments and ominous original score give the investigation a strong sense of place, while the literary source material lends the plot more weight than many low-budget adventure games.
