Night Security (v1.06)

A lonely overnight shift in a Japanese office building becomes an exercise in mounting dread, where routine security work slowly gives way to the impossible. Night Security | 夜間警備 is a first-person psychological horror experience built around claustrophobic corridors, humming fluorescent lights, empty elevators, and the persistent feeling that someone is watching from just out of sight. Its fear is deliberately quiet at first, drawing strength from believable workplaces and mundane tasks rather than throwing constant monsters at the player. The mood recalls Japanese urban horror cinema: grounded, uneasy, and increasingly surreal as the night refuses to stay normal.

Players patrol floor by floor, check rooms and facilities, respond to suspicious details, and follow the procedures expected of a night guard. Exploration is methodical, with much of the tension coming from revisiting familiar spaces after subtle changes make them feel unsafe. The game relies on environmental storytelling, scripted scares, disturbing sound design, and carefully paced encounters instead of combat, so running in blindly rarely feels like a solution. Autosaves between floors keep progress manageable while preserving the pressure of each new area, and decisions or actions along the way can lead to one of two endings.

What separates Night Security from many short-form indie scare games is its convincing sense of place. The building feels ordinary enough that every malfunctioning light, unexplained noise, and misplaced object becomes suspicious, while the VHS filter gives the presentation an appropriately degraded found-footage texture; it can also be disabled for a cleaner image. Expect a focused, linear horror story rather than a sprawling exploration game or a replayable survival sandbox. Fans of Chilla’s Art’s grounded Japanese horror, as well as players who enjoy the slow-building discomfort of games like The Convenience Store or PT, should find plenty to appreciate.
