One Long Night With the Circleheads (v1.0)

The Fun Depot turns a child’s idea of a playhouse into a claustrophobic nightmare, trapping nine-year-old runaway Barney Bubbs in a storm-battered pocket dimension for a single, very long night. Its residents, the sphere-headed Circleheads, insist that they only want to have fun, but their forced cheerfulness quickly becomes unsettling. The result is a compact point-and-click horror experience built around suspicion, isolation, and the uneasy feeling that every smiling face is hiding a threat. Thunder outside and bizarre childhood-themed rooms inside give the setting a deliberately cheap, strange, dreamlike menace.

Barney survives by monitoring the Depot through a tablet, watching where its odd inhabitants roam and checking the rooms that surround his shelter. Lights and lasers let you inspect the darkness beyond your door, deter intruders, and decide when it is safe to hold your ground rather than react in panic. Much of the tension comes from managing limited information: the Circleheads may be harmless at a given moment, or they may be manipulating your assumptions while you focus on someone else. Mouse-and-keyboard controls keep the interaction simple, while the middle mouse button plays an important role in the game’s defensive routines.

What makes the setup memorable is its cast of deliberately off-kilter personalities: Greg’s manic laughter, Benjy’s sneaking, Carol’s fragile warmth, Fabio’s isolated clown act, and Henry’s sleepy handyman persona all make the Fun Depot feel like a broken cartoon inhabited by people who never learned how to behave normally. Rather than relying on elaborate combat, it uses surveillance, timing, sound, and character uncertainty to create pressure. Its Clickteam Fusion presentation and office-defense structure openly recall Five Nights at Freddy’s, but the setting leans harder into surreal childlike imagery and awkward comedy. Fans of short indie mascot horror, point-and-click tension, and FNAF-style monitoring games should find plenty to enjoy, especially if they prefer weird atmosphere over action-heavy scares.
