OrbWars is a colorful action roguelite built around four miniature robot defenders—Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Omega—who answer eight-year-old Elias’s call when a very real creature begins spreading darkness through his room. The story balances an approachable toy-box look with a surprisingly earnest theme of confronting childhood fears, turning closets, shadows, and familiar bedroom spaces into hostile territory. Its mood lands somewhere between Saturday-morning cartoon adventure and spooky kid-friendly fantasy rather than outright horror.

Combat revolves around the Orb, each warrior’s signature weapon and the centerpiece of every encounter. Players push through shifting dungeon runs assembled from designed rooms, battling the Monster in the Dark’s growing collection of henchmen while learning how to use Orb attacks effectively under pressure. Boost Capsules alter those attacks with ten different explosive or otherwise impactful effects, while rarer Power Chips add longer-term customization and let each robot lean toward a preferred playstyle. The campaign supports up to four players in PvE, whether everyone shares a couch locally or joins online, making coordinated runs and chaotic recovery attempts part of the appeal.

What gives OrbWars its own identity is the combination of cooperative roguelite structure and a childhood setting that treats a bedroom like a fantasy war zone. Procedural layouts keep runs from becoming too predictable, but the pool of handcrafted rooms prevents the randomness from feeling entirely anonymous or thrown together.
