Game Overview

Modern-day Asakusa turns uncanny when a group of indie developers tests an augmented-reality engine that seems capable of rewriting the city itself. Our World is Ended is a science-fiction visual novel with an energetic anime cast, balancing absurd workplace comedy and fanservice with a steadily darker mystery about fiction invading reality. Reiji, the part-time director of the small Judgement 7 studio, sees a devastated alternate version of Tokyo through the W.O.R.L.D. headset, then learns that its monsters, characters, and disasters may no longer be confined to a screen.

Most of the experience centers on reading fully voiced story scenes, getting to know the eccentric development team, and making dialogue choices at key moments. Its conversation system presents rapid-fire response options, often asking players to decide how Reiji reacts before a timer runs out; choices can shape scenes, relationships, and the path toward different conclusions. The plot regularly shifts between everyday office antics, trips around recognizable Asakusa locations, investigations into strange AR phenomena, and increasingly high-stakes confrontations. Rather than demanding reflexes or tactical skill, it rewards attention to character dynamics, terminology, and the growing gap between what the team creates and what becomes real.

What separates it from many anime visual novels is its developer-studio perspective: the heroes are not soldiers or chosen saviors, but messy young creators whose unfinished projects start causing genuine danger. Bright character art and playful humor make the early chapters approachable, while the later story leans into paranoia, reality-bending imagery, and large-scale consequences. The pacing is deliberately wordy and the humor can be broad, so it suits players who enjoy long-form character banter more than those seeking constant action. Fans of Steins;Gate-style sci-fi mysteries, chaotic ensemble comedies, and choice-driven visual novels find plenty to enjoy, especially if they appreciate a story that gradually turns a familiar city into something deeply wrong.
