You arrive as a newly hired investigator for a dubious ghost-hunting company, tasked with proving an old property is safe enough to sell. Local stories point to botched séances, vanished residents, and a girl whose laughter carries through the halls, so the job quickly turns from simple inspection into survival. The tone balances serious haunted-house dread with the chaotic humor that naturally appears when a group of friends starts screaming and running in different directions.

Each investigation sends you searching dark rooms, locked passages, basements, and attics for clues and the objects needed to weaken or calm the supernatural threat. The central spirit does not remain passive: she shifts between eerie, vulnerable behavior and sudden murderous aggression, forcing players to react quickly rather than follow a safe routine. Matches support solo play, but online co-op for up to four players is clearly the ideal format, as teammates can split up to gather supplies, revive one another, and coordinate when the haunting escalates. Later environments expand the formula beyond the original house, while random item locations and the ghost’s changing behavior keep repeated runs from feeling completely scripted.

Pacify stands out through its simple, readable objective design and its ability to turn mundane scavenging into a nerve-racking race against an enemy who can appear almost anywhere. Visuals are modest and the scares lean heavily on darkness, sound cues, chase sequences, and uncertainty rather than elaborate storytelling, which makes it easy to pick up but consistently stressful. Fans of Phasmophobia who want less investigation jargon and more direct pursuit horror, or players who enjoy the co-op chaos of Devour, find plenty to like here. Solo horror veterans can handle its focused objectives, but the game shines brightest with a voice-chat group willing to laugh through the fear.
