A summer road trip across Japan becomes a fight against a new wave of stolen desires, with the Phantom Thieves returning for an energetic action-RPG sequel. Tokyo, Sendai, Sapporo, Okinawa, and Osaka provide more than sightseeing: each stop hides a warped “Jail” shaped by a ruler exploiting the public’s emotions. The mood keeps Persona 5’s sharp pop-art style, witty group chemistry, and social commentary, but trades the original’s school-calendar structure for a faster, more focused adventure. Familiar heroes share the spotlight with new allies Sophie and Zenkichi, giving the story fresh dynamics even for players who know the crew well.

Combat replaces turn-based battles with flashy real-time brawling inspired by Dynasty Warriors, though it remains firmly rooted in Persona systems. Players directly control one Phantom Thief at a time, swap party members in the middle of a fight, unleash character-specific combo strings, and summon Personas for elemental attacks, buffs, healing, and devastating All-Out Attacks. Pausing the action to select skills adds tactical breathing room, while exploiting weaknesses still knocks enemies down and rewards smart party composition. Between dungeon runs, the team travels by camper van, accepts requests, cooks restorative meals, buys equipment, and spends Bond points on upgrades that improve combat options, resource management, and exploration.

Strikers stands apart from other musou-style spin-offs because its huge crowds never completely overwhelm its RPG decision-making; positioning, affinities, ambushes, and SP conservation matter throughout. Its compact Jails offer stealthy approaches, platforming routes, checkpoints, and puzzle-like progression rather than endless battlefield objectives, while the soundtrack delivers new remixes alongside the series’ trademark acid-jazz energy. The campaign is best enjoyed after Persona 5 or Persona 5 Royal, since it assumes familiarity with the original cast and follows their story directly. Fans of Persona’s characters who want a brisker, combat-driven sequel will find plenty to enjoy, while action veterans get a stylish gateway into the series’ strengths.
