Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison returns to a fractured America where military forces, cyborgs, and grotesque mutations stand between her and the Demon Core, a relic capable of changing humanity’s future. Phantom Fury is a loud, rough-edged first-person shooter with the pacing of a B-movie road trip, sending its foul-mouthed heroine from motels and laboratories to city streets and heavily guarded installations. Years after the events of Ion Fury, Shelly wakes from a coma with a new bionic arm and an urgent assignment from an old ally. The mood stays gleefully over-the-top, mixing apocalyptic stakes with explosive gunfights, absurd weaponry, and a love for old-school action cinema.

Combat revolves around pushing forward through hostile spaces, scavenging ammo and gear, and using an arsenal that ranges from conventional firearms to explosive bowling bombs and specialized energy tools. More than 20 weapons support upgrades and alternate functions, letting players tune familiar hardware for armor penetration, crowd control, or harsher close-range damage. Shelly’s mechanical arm and suit add another layer to the fighting, unlocking useful powers such as a heavy punch and defensive electric shield that help when enemies close in. Levels also encourage poking around rather than simply sprinting to the exit, with usable computers, arcade cabinets, vehicles, and other environmental interactions breaking up the shooting.

What separates Phantom Fury from a straightforward retro shooter is its attempt to make each stop on Shelly’s cross-country mission feel like a place rather than a corridor full of targets. Its chunky action sensibilities recall Duke Nukem, while Shelly’s speed, weapon handling, and attitude retain the spirit of Ion Fury, even as the presentation moves into fully 3D spaces. Enemy groups demand quick target prioritization, and larger encounters become hectic tests of movement, ammunition management, and smart use of upgrades.
