Police Shootout combines first-person presentation with turn-based tactical encounters, slowing the usual FPS formula into a deliberate test of judgment and positioning. Price arrives carrying unanswered questions from his former life in a much larger, gang-ridden city, and the campaign gradually frames each case as part of his personal story. The mood lands somewhere between a police procedural and a restrained tactical shooter, with room for both tense violence and careful de-escalation.

Calls begin with investigation and conversation before potentially erupting into a combat scenario. During firefights, players assess threats, use cover, manage action points, aim at enemies from a first-person perspective, and decide whether a risky shot is worth taking. Not every suspect needs to be met with gunfire: dialogue choices and the right verbal approach can defuse situations, protect civilians, and lead to cleaner resolutions.
