Game Overview

Keeping a modern city illuminated becomes a tense logistics puzzle in Power to the People, an indie management sim that makes electricity its most valuable resource. The campaign follows an expanding energy company as new neighborhoods and entire cities demand reliable power, while limited funds force careful decisions about where to build next. Its mood sits between calm planning and mounting pressure: a network that looks stable can quickly collapse when consumption spikes, bad weather arrives, or a key connection fails.

Players place power-generating facilities, substations, and other grid infrastructure, then link them into networks capable of meeting local demand. Revenue comes from satisfied customers, allowing the company to expand capacity, reinforce weak areas, and unlock upgrades through a substantial research tree with more than 30 perks. More than 20 building types give the grid room to evolve, but every expansion needs to account for cost, output, and the danger of blackouts; unhappy citizens and repeated outages put the whole operation at risk. Weather conditions and random events ensure that simply building enough generators is rarely the complete answer.

What separates it from broader city builders is its focused approach: instead of managing roads, housing, and politics, every decision revolves around producing, routing, and protecting energy. Fourteen campaign missions across five continents provide structured scenarios with shifting challenges, while Sandbox mode offers a less restrictive place to experiment with layouts and Weekly Challenges push efficiency-minded players toward leaderboard runs. Fans of Mini Motorways-style network planning or the utility-management side of Cities: Skylines should find plenty to enjoy, especially if they prefer compact, problem-solving simulations over sprawling urban sandboxes.
