As a field researcher for the Psychoscopy website, you enter sprawling haunted locations with cameras and specialized detection gear, hoping to capture footage convincing enough to earn money. The mood leans toward tense, methodical ghost hunting rather than constant action: every dark corridor, abandoned structure, and distant sound could point toward an unexplained presence. Ghosts, spirits, daemons, and mythical creatures all occupy these investigations, with more than 20 distinct entities to identify.

Most sessions revolve around following briefing notes from an exploration team, studying the supplied map, locating suspicious areas, and gathering video evidence before conditions turn hostile. Equipment serves different investigative purposes, so success depends on reading signs correctly instead of blindly searching every corner of a large map. Encounters become more dangerous once an entity reveals itself, because each creature responds to particular protective methods; a defense that drives one being away can provoke another. Communication also plays a major role, letting investigators ask questions, issue requests, or use an ouija board to draw a response from certain supernatural inhabitants.

Co-op supports a team of up to five players, making it useful to split up, cover separate leads, and coordinate escapes when the evidence trail becomes dangerous. Money earned from successful uploads unlocks additional characters and improved tools, giving repeat investigations a practical progression loop beyond simply surviving the night.
