Relayer Advanced is a story-heavy tactical RPG where giant humanoid machines, awakened “Starchildren,” and Greek-mythology imagery collide in a glossy science-fiction setting. Its tone leans melodramatic and earnest, delivering space opera intrigue through lengthy character scenes and missions spread across the solar system. Players follow a cast caught between ancient cosmic history and a very immediate invasion.

Battles play out on square-grid maps, with squads of Stellar Gear mechs positioning themselves around enemies, managing ranges, terrain, and turn order. Each pilot fills a job-based combat role, from durable front-line units and rapid melee attackers to long-range snipers and support specialists, while equipment and skills shape how they perform. The Hate system makes enemy attention predictable, allowing tanks to draw attacks away from fragile allies, while Backstab rewards flanking maneuvers and Big Bang attacks provide powerful finishers when the situation turns desperate. Relayer Advanced refines the original release with a smoother interface, additional features, and expanded late-game content, so it works as both an entry point and a return visit.

What separates it from many tactical RPGs is its emphasis on readable aggro management rather than random enemy behavior; planning who gets targeted is often as important as dealing damage. The clean, anime-styled character art and mechanical designs give its long campaign a distinct identity, even when the plot embraces familiar chosen-hero and alien-invasion ideas.
