Nilin moves through a largely linear third-person action adventure built around climbing routes, environmental traversal, light exploration, and close-quarters brawls. Combat favors rhythm and positioning over elaborate weapon systems: the Combo Lab lets you assemble strike chains from unlockable Pressens, tailoring attacks to deal damage, restore health, shorten cooldowns, or build special-move energy. Enemies push you to adapt those combinations rather than rely on one safe string, while powerful S-Pressens provide crowd control and emergency options. The signature Memory Remix sequences slow the pace down, asking you to alter carefully chosen details in a subject’s recollection so their present-day decisions change; these scenes are scripted rather than open-ended, but they remain the game’s most memorable idea.

What stands out is the confidence of its setting and visual direction, from holographic advertisements and wearable tech to the unsettling social divide beneath Neo-Paris’s polished surface. Nilin is a capable lead with a refreshingly physical fighting style, and her story gives the action more emotional weight than many genre peers. Some platforming sections and combat encounters show the game’s age, and players wanting a branching RPG full of meaningful choices should know that its memory manipulation is used sparingly.
