Its biggest strength is variety: one chapter may play like a tense infiltration, while the next sends you against zombies, elite guards, hulking monstrosities, or occult bosses. Built on id Tech 3 technology, the game still has the crisp movement, readable arenas, and immediate weapon handling associated with classic Quake-era shooters, but its scripted scenes and story-driven missions give it more adventure than a pure deathmatch game. Multiplayer adds objective-based Axis-versus-Allies battles with class roles such as medic, engineer, lieutenant, and soldier, making teamwork more important than individual kill counts.
