A rough-edged 16-bit brawler finally gives Western players a chance to see where the River City Girls saga begins. Kunio, Riki, Misako, and Kyoko are caught up in a false criminal accusation, and their only route to the truth runs through schools, docks, carnivals, casinos, highways, and every gang standing in the way. The tone is tougher and more melodramatic than the later River City Girls games, built around prison breaks, street fights, and hot-blooded rivalries rather than constant comedy. Its vintage Super Famicom presentation brings chunky sprites, energetic scrolling stages, and a soundtrack that balances the original music with newly added tracks.

Combat centers on the satisfying basics of the genre: strings of punches and kicks, jumping attacks, throws, grabs, stomps, and powerful character-specific techniques. Players swap between the four leads, whose special moves add some variety to their shared street-fighting toolkit, while defeated enemies and stage hazards keep encounters from becoming pure button mashing. The campaign supports solo play or two-player local co-op, making it easy to tackle its lengthy, often demanding stages with a friend.
