Game Overview

A gigantic boulder becomes both your weapon and your worst problem in this absurd historical tower-defense racer. Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder sends players barreling through a cutout-book version of civilization, where medieval castles, Renaissance art, and wildly inaccurate history collide under a layer of Monty Python-style silliness. Its tone is knowingly ridiculous, punctuated by animated story scenes that turn famous artists, rulers, and myths into targets for broad slapstick. Beneath the jokes sits a fast, competitive game about destroying an opponent’s gate before they smash yours.

Each round alternates between planning defenses and taking control of a rolling stone. You spend resources placing towers, traps, animals, siege weapons, and other obstacles along a winding course, then steer your boulder downhill while avoiding hazards and trying to preserve its speed and size. Reaching the enemy’s fortress lets you ram the gate for damage, while crashes, defensive fire, and bad turns can ruin an otherwise perfect run. Different boulders introduce useful quirks, allowing tougher, faster, or more specialized approaches, and the campaign steadily adds new tools and crazier courses. Local and online multiplayer supports up to four players, making matches much more chaotic as everyone races, builds, and sabotages at once.

Its strongest feature is the unusual blend of racing, physics comedy, and asymmetric tower defense: you are never only defending or only attacking for long. Unreal Engine 4 gives the environments more detailed destruction than the original, and watching a carefully built defense get flattened by a runaway rock remains the central joke. Courses demand quick reactions but also reward smart placement and familiarity with every dangerous bend. Players who enjoy the first Rock of Ages, the trap-building mind games of Orcs Must Die!, or arcade racers with a mischievous streak find plenty to like, while newcomers can jump in easily thanks to the straightforward controls and playful presentation.
