Rusty Rabbit

A frozen, humanless Earth becomes an unexpectedly lively playground for a gruff rabbit scavenger with a battered mech and a talent for finding trouble. Rusty Rabbit is a side-scrolling action adventure set beneath Smokestack Mountain, a colossal industrial ruin where rabbit society treats lost human artifacts as relics of a mythical giant civilization. Stamp, an impatient middle-aged “rust digger,” begins his work for profit and junk, but an encounter with the BBs excavation crew pulls him toward a much more personal mystery involving his estranged daughter. The mood balances warm, eccentric animal-town humor with lonely ruins, hard-hitting machinery, and a story about family, faith, and a civilization that misunderstands its past.

Most of the action revolves around piloting Stamp’s nimble rabbit-shaped machine through branching underground zones, blasting enemies, smashing breakable terrain, and uncovering materials hidden behind obstacles. Movement is a major focus: the mech dashes, leaps, drills through blocks, and uses its growing toolset to reach routes that are inaccessible during earlier visits. Loot gathered from ruins feeds into upgrades for weapons, mech parts, and Stamp’s own combat potential, creating a satisfying loop of excavation, fighting, returning to town, and tackling tougher depths. Enemy encounters and bosses demand more than simple button-mashing, especially as new abilities expand both offensive options and environmental navigation.

Its strongest idea is the contrast between cute rabbits and the rusted remains of humanity, with religious folklore inspired by a children’s story adding a strange, memorable layer to the setting. Stamp is not the usual wide-eyed adventure hero; his short temper, obsession with tinkering, and weathered perspective give the narrative more personality than the genre often receives. The detailed mechanical environments and gradual Metroidvania-style unlocking make revisiting old areas rewarding without abandoning the momentum of a focused action platformer. Players who enjoy the exploration of Metroid, the upgrade-driven combat of modern indie action games, or stories built around oddball worlds should find plenty to like, while newcomers get an approachable route into the format.
