A bizarre fantasy war unfolds through the eyes of a stranded wizard whose battles are won with monsters, magic, and ritual sacrifice rather than lumber mills and gold mines. Sacrifice is a real-time strategy classic with an unusually personal perspective: you control a single spellcaster on the ground while directing summoned creatures across surreal 3D battlefields. Its world is equal parts darkly comic and apocalyptic, populated by bickering gods, grotesque beasts, and exaggerated voice performances that give the campaign far more character than most strategy games of its era. Every skirmish feels like a magical brawl where a comeback is always possible if you can protect your wizard and use the right spell at the right moment.

Mana fuels summoning and spellcasting, while souls collected from defeated creatures determine how many followers you can bring back into the fight. Instead of constructing a traditional base, you capture mana fountains and use them to extend your influence, then select creatures and spells granted by the god you currently favor. Orders are simple and immediate—attack, defend, gather, or move—but the action becomes hectic as armies clash, terrain gets reshaped by spells, and enemy wizards unleash devastating area attacks. Victory usually comes from reaching an opponent’s altar and sacrificing one of your own allied units there, so protecting valuable creatures while creating an opening is more important than simply overwhelming the map.

The defining strength is its blend of RTS command with action-game immediacy: your wizard can be targeted, interrupted, and killed, making positioning matter as much as army composition. Five rival gods offer distinct magical toolkits and creatures, allowing campaign choices to carry forward and giving repeat runs different tactical flavors. The fully 3D camera and physics-driven spell effects remain memorable, even if the interface and visuals clearly show their age.
