A sun-scorched desert becomes the stage for an unexpectedly warm, funny action-RPG built around a desperate search for water. Beelzebub, the young Fiend Prince, joins the resourceful Thief and human sheriff Rao to locate a fabled spring while confronting bandits, monsters, and a corrupt royal military. Akira Toriyama’s unmistakable character design gives the wasteland a lively personality: demons are cheeky rather than monstrous, tanks look delightfully handmade, and even the bleakest settlements have room for humor. The story begins as a road-trip adventure through Sand Land before opening into the greener, stranger territory beyond its dunes.

Combat mixes Beelzebub’s quick punches, special demon techniques, dodges, and defensive timing with vehicle-based battles. On foot, players clear enemy camps, search ruins, take requests, and gather materials; on the road, they pilot customizable tanks, bikes, hovercraft, jump-bots, and other machines suited to specific terrain and combat problems. Vehicle construction is central to the loop, letting players fit stronger engines, weapons, suspensions, and cosmetic parts as resources become available. Beelzebub and his companions grow through equipment, abilities, and upgrades, while vehicles provide both exploration tools and the heaviest firepower against bosses and army patrols.

What separates SAND LAND from more punishing open-world RPGs is its approachable rhythm and genuine affection for Toriyama’s world. Spino, the player’s base settlement, gradually develops as rescued residents arrive, opening shops, services, upgrades, and side activities that make progress feel visible. Its open areas are not enormous sandbox maps, but they reward detours with materials, caves, enemy outposts, collectibles, and vehicle challenges. Fans of Dragon Ball’s playful visual energy, Dragon Quest’s accessible adventure tone, or vehicle-focused action RPGs will find plenty to enjoy, especially if they prefer story-led exploration over demanding character builds.
