Thrown from his home by a sinister floating orb, the wizard must climb back toward the summit while the tower itself spits out transformed creatures and projectile-filled ambushes. The mood is colourful and energetic rather than grim, but its difficulty has real bite: every screen becomes a frantic test of positioning and timing. Savant – Ascent is a score-chasing action game that makes short runs feel urgent, stylish, and surprisingly strategic.

Combat centres on firing magical missile volleys at incoming enemies while jumping and dodging between lanes to avoid their attacks. Enemies arrive in dense waves, often forcing players to decide whether to focus on immediate threats, clear space with a power, or risk damage to keep a combo and score alive. Reaching checkpoints and advancing upward unlocks new CDs, and each soundtrack doubles as a gameplay upgrade with its own useful ability. The campaign offers a structured climb through the tower, while Time Attack and Endless Mode provide cleaner arcade challenges for players chasing survival records, mastery, and achievements.

Its best idea is the connection between music and progression: unlocking another Savant track is not merely cosmetic, but expands the Alchemist’s combat toolkit and changes how a run feels. The presentation is deliberately minimal yet memorable, combining striking pixel art, strange mechanical monsters, and an excellent soundtrack that keeps the action moving. Hidden powers and multiple modes give the small package more replay value than its straightforward premise suggests, especially for players determined to perfect their dodges.
