Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition is a side-scrolling brawler with the rhythm, color, and knowingly ridiculous humor of classic arcade beat ’em ups, filtered through Bryan Lee O’Malley’s comic-book universe. Its streets, clubs, and strange dreamlike stages feel playful rather than grim, while chiptune-heavy music gives every piledriver and flying guitar a burst of energy.

Combat centers on walking, jumping, grabbing, tossing, and chaining strikes against crowds of enemies, with environmental weapons and summoned assists adding welcome chaos. Fighters begin relatively limited but grow stronger by earning money, buying food, and improving statistics such as health, attack power, and defense; new moves also unlock as levels rise. The campaign supports cooperative play for up to four players, letting a group juggle opponents, revive fallen allies, and turn demanding boss encounters into gleeful disorder. Alongside the story mode, extra challenges and competitive diversions such as dodgeball help break up repeat runs.

The Complete Edition includes the former add-on characters Knives Chau and Wallace Wells, each bringing a different feel to the roster alongside Scott, Ramona, Kim Pine, Stephen Stills, and others. Its biggest strength is how much personality it packs into familiar brawler fundamentals: shops double as progression systems, stages hide secrets, enemies drop coins like defeated arcade villains, and the visual jokes rarely stop. Players who enjoy Streets of Rage, River City Girls, or old-school Final Fight-style co-op find an especially satisfying fit here, though newcomers should expect a deliberately retro structure and occasional early-game grind. For fans of the comics or film it is an affectionate adaptation, but its sharp pixel art, excellent soundtrack, and couch-co-op appeal make it easy to recommend even without prior Scott Pilgrim knowledge.
