Second Rate Superheroes is a fast, irreverent action roguelite built around the idea that the city’s real champions are missing, dead, or simply refusing to answer the phone. Its hand-drawn comic-book look and aggressively silly humor keep the mood lively, but the pressure is real: every run becomes a frantic attempt to protect Mayor McTrinkle before the city’s final scraps are wiped out.

Matches revolve around short, intense survival runs where enemies pour in from every direction and the mayor needs defending as much as your own hero does. Rather than endlessly kiting mobs, players use a taunt system to pull threats away from vulnerable targets, deploy turrets, and build destructive weapon combinations from core guns, rare gear, side weapons, and powerful superweapons. Twenty heroes offer notably different playstyles, while four sidekicks add run-changing perks and occasional extra help when things turn ugly. Hundreds of randomized cards shape each attempt, and permanent upgrades, unlocks, and one-use purchases gradually give failed runs some long-term value.

The standout feature is how it turns a familiar survivor-style formula into a defensive brawl with positioning, threat management, and a deliberately scrappy superhero theme. Four stages, multiple difficulty settings, challenge modifiers, and a large pool of weapons and upgrades provide plenty of reasons to keep experimenting after an early defeat. Runs last around 20 minutes, making it an easy fit for players who enjoy the escalating chaos of Vampire Survivors but want more active aiming, defensive objectives, and character variety. Roguelite veterans should appreciate the build depth, while newcomers can still have fun with its accessible controls—provided they can tolerate repeated, noisy, funny failures.
