Game Overview
A late-night walk home becomes a nerve-racking climb through an apartment block that no longer follows ordinary rules. Sector 404 is a compact first-person horror experience built around unease rather than combat, turning familiar corridors, stairwells, and dimly lit landings into places worth fearing. Your character only wants to take his regular medication and reach his apartment, yet the building stretches, shifts, and watches from the shadows. The mood is oppressive and paranoid, with every flickering light or misplaced object potentially signalling disaster.
Each run begins on the ground floor, and you choose whether to tackle a 10-, 15-, or 20-floor ascent. Progress depends on carefully inspecting every level for anomalies: altered rooms, strange sounds, suspicious electronics, and subtler environmental changes that are easy to overlook when you are rushing. Missing a disturbance sends you back to the beginning, making observation and memory more valuable than reflexes. An old mobile phone tracks detected irregularities somewhere in the building, while an electronic detector helps confirm supernatural activity around devices such as radios, televisions, computers, and phones; a rising beep and escalating reading mean you are close to something wrong.
Its strongest idea is how it transforms a simple residential stairwell into a repeatable psychological test. With 80 possible anomalies distributed across the building, repeated attempts remain tense because you cannot rely entirely on memorizing one fixed route. The selectable climb lengths also let newcomers learn the rules on shorter runs before committing to the more punishing twenty-floor challenge. Fans of anomaly-spotting horror such as The Exit 8, or players who enjoy the slow dread of observation-based walking sims, find Sector 404 an effective, focused scare that rewards patience, attention, and a willingness to question every ordinary detail.
