Shelter 2 is an open-world animal survival adventure that begins with pregnancy and follows the difficult work of raising a litter across forests, tundra, rivers, and changing seasons. Its low-poly, patterned art style makes the landscape look almost storybook-like, but the mood stays tense when hunger sets in, predators appear, or a cub wanders too far from safety. Rather than playing a heroic hunter, you inhabit an animal with limited strength, vulnerable offspring, and no room for careless decisions.

Most of the experience revolves around keeping both mother and cubs alive. You roam for rabbits, birds, and other prey, stalk targets with scent tracking, sprint and leap across terrain, then bring food back before your young become dangerously hungry. Cubs need more than meat: they must stay close, drink from rivers, avoid hazards, and sometimes be physically carried away from danger.
