Shing! (v2.0)

A blood-soaked martial-arts road trip through a world of demons, yokai-like beasts, and strange machinery gives Shing! more energy than the average side-scrolling brawler. Its four wisecracking ninja heroes cut through hostile fantasy landscapes with exaggerated comic-book attitude, backed by colorful visuals and a knowingly silly tone. Rather than treating combat as a simple string of repeated punches, the game makes swordplay feel immediate, fast, and deliberately chaotic. The result is an old-school beat-’em-up that aims for the spectacle of an arcade brawler while asking players to engage with a deeper moveset.

Fights revolve around positioning, crowd control, evasive movement, and weapon attacks directed with the right analog stick. That control scheme lets players slash in different directions and chain strikes, launches, special techniques, and improvised enemy interactions without relying entirely on preset combos; an alternate, more traditional button-mashing option is also available. Levels send the team through waves of increasingly tricky foes, environmental hazards, and oversized bosses, with each enemy type demanding better timing than the last. Characters can be swapped during play, abilities taken from enemies can be turned back on them, and the full campaign supports solo play or four-player local co-op, while remote online sessions work through supported streaming features.

Shing! stands out because it tries to make a genre usually built on repetition feel closer to a freeform action game. Its directional sword system rewards practice, yet the loud presentation and accessible alternate controls still leave room for casual groups who simply want to carve through monsters together. The visual style sits somewhere between Saturday-morning animation and a gory action comic, which helps the game maintain personality even when the screen fills with enemies. Fans of Castle Crashers, Streets of Rage, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-style co-op brawlers should find plenty to like, especially if they want more hands-on combat and are willing to learn its unconventional controls.
