Ardemia is a colorful fantasy land living under the threat of a spreading darkness, but its old-school adventure spirit keeps the journey from becoming relentlessly grim. Rio and Reima set out to rebuild the sacred Sword of the Shrine by recovering eight elemental gems, a quest that carries them across forests, towns, ruins, and monster-filled labyrinths. Their mission follows the familiar save-the-world shape of 16-bit RPGs, yet the story gives weight to the people caught in the conflict and the sacrifices its young heroes may have to make.
