The Forsaken Lands deliver a grim, physical VR adventure where every sword swing feels like a survival decision. You play Wren the Hunter, an outcast warrior afflicted by the same curse consuming their isolated village, and the only cure lies in hunting down colossal Behemoths that should be impossible to kill. Snow-choked peaks, ruined settlements, and diseased marshes create a bleak fantasy frontier full of desperate scavengers and monstrous threats. Its tone sits closer to a savage dark-fantasy campaign than a heroic power trip, even when it lets you tear an enemy apart with bare hands.

Combat revolves around weighty, motion-controlled weapons and a deliberately tactile physics system. Swords, axes, bows, shields, and improvised tools can be used to parry, throw, block, or brutally dismantle human foes, while enhanced strength lets Wren grab enemies, break limbs, and turn the environment into a weapon. Exploration mixes linear story progression with open combat arenas, vertical climbing routes, hidden supplies, and a grappling hook that becomes essential during the largest encounters. Behemoth battles shift the scale dramatically: you climb their bodies, avoid sweeping attacks, target weak points, and use the surrounding terrain to survive creatures that tower over normal enemies. The campaign is a solo experience, with difficulty coming less from complex controls than from managing stamina, positioning, weapon reach, and the chaos of close-quarters VR combat.

What separates it from many VR action games is its commitment to “virtual physicality”: objects have presence, enemy bodies react to force, and kills are meant to feel earned rather than triggered by a button prompt. Skydance’s experience with The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners shows in the tactile weapon handling and oppressive world design, although BEHEMOTH trades zombie scavenging for mythic monster hunting. Players who want the climbing spectacle of Shadow of the Colossus combined with the hands-on violence of Saints & Sinners find plenty to enjoy, while VR newcomers may need time to adjust to its intense movement and combat.
