Haven Tor turns the platforming rulebook on its head by making its hero a snake who cannot simply jump across gaps. Noodle and his excitable hummingbird companion Doodle set out to restore stolen Keystones to the island’s magical gates, traveling through bright, toy-like ruins full of bamboo scaffolds, precarious ledges, and ancient mechanisms. The tone stays charming and playful, but the challenge can become surprisingly tense when a carefully balanced climb starts to unravel. Snake Pass is less about speed and reflexes than learning to move with patience, weight, and purpose.

Players guide Noodle’s head while managing the rest of his long, flexible body, slithering forward, gripping surfaces, wrapping around poles, and using coils as anchors. Doodle can provide a short lift to help Noodle reach higher ground, though he cannot solve every climbing problem for you. Each of the 15 main stages asks you to retrieve three Keystones, then offers extra coins and hidden collectibles for players willing to investigate difficult side routes. Progress comes from mastering the unusual control scheme: there is no conventional jump button, so crossing a chasm often means finding a support, looping around it, and carefully shifting your weight without falling. Unlockable time trials add a faster, score-chasing layer once the campaign’s puzzles are understood.

Its strongest idea is that movement itself is the puzzle. Where games such as Super Mario 3D World make traversal immediately intuitive, Snake Pass deliberately makes every climb feel awkward at first, then deeply satisfying once snake logic clicks into place. The colorful world, expressive characters, and David Wise soundtrack keep frustration from overwhelming the experience, while the physics create plenty of memorable near-misses and improvised recoveries. It suits puzzle-platform veterans looking for something genuinely different, as well as patient newcomers who do not mind spending time learning an unconventional but rewarding way to move.
