Each turn revolves around expanding your domain while deciding how aggressively to scout, recruit, and confront rival forces. Towns supply units and upgrades, while mines and resource sites feed construction, research, and army growth; careful planning matters because a poorly defended settlement or overextended Wielder can ruin a campaign. Combat takes place on compact hex-based battlefields, where unit abilities, terrain elevation, chokepoints, and positioning are as important as raw numbers. Magic uses an Essence system tied to the troops accompanying a Wielder, encouraging you to build armies that support the spells and tactics you want rather than simply stacking the strongest units.

Four sharply different factions give the roster real personality: Arleon fields traditional knights and feudal soldiers, Rana brings swamp tribes and beastly fighters, Loth weaponizes necromancy, and Barya mixes mercenaries with gunpowder technology.
