Sonic Forces (Incl. ALL DLC’s)

Eggman’s occupation of a battered, mechanized world gives Sonic Forces a surprisingly urgent backdrop for a series built on color and velocity. Infinite, a masked new enemy with reality-warping powers, turns the conflict into a globe-spanning resistance campaign rather than another simple chase for the Chaos Emeralds. The tone remains bright and arcade-like, but ruined cities, military convoys, and conquered familiar locations give its high-speed spectacle a little more weight. Three versions of the hero share the spotlight as the resistance tries to push Eggman’s empire back.

Modern Sonic races through 3D courses, homing across enemies, boosting through obstacles, and chaining quick reactions during cinematic set pieces. Classic Sonic handles more like his Genesis-era counterpart, using side-scrolling stages built around momentum, springs, loops, and alternate routes. The most distinctive campaign belongs to the player-created Avatar, who joins the resistance armed with customizable gear and a Wispon, a weapon that can fire flames, lightning, drills, or other elemental attacks while also opening different paths through levels. Missions are generally short and direct, with red rings, score targets, secret routes, costume parts, and rank chasing providing reasons to revisit stages. The included extra content also adds Shadow-focused missions, bringing a faster, more aggressive variation to the Modern Sonic formula.

Sonic Forces stands out less for deep platforming complexity than for its rapid switches between three play styles and its unusually extensive character creator. Building an original fox, cat, bird, or other resistance recruit and gradually unlocking outfits gives the adventure a personal angle that most Sonic games never attempt. Level design favors spectacle and accessibility over the demanding momentum mastery of Sonic Mania, so occasional automated sequences and brief stages may disappoint series veterans seeking a purist platformer. Players who enjoy Sonic Colors, Sonic Generations, flashy action-platformers, and collecting cosmetic unlocks find plenty to like, while newcomers get an approachable, brisk tour through one of the series’ more theatrical conflicts.
