A dying troll caravan forms the heart of a grim but surprisingly personal fantasy campaign, where survival matters more than conquest. You lead Akrog, a young chieftain trying to save his people from disease, hunters, and the slow collapse of their nomadic way of life. An elf’s cryptic promise sends the tribe on a desperate search for a dead god, carrying the story through the familiar continent of Eo from an outsider’s perspective. The tone is harsher and more intimate than a standard heroic fantasy adventure, with trolls treated as a threatened people rather than disposable enemies.

Fallen God combines party-based RPG questing with the base construction and army management of a real-time strategy game. Akrog and his companions travel through handcrafted regions, talk to factions, complete quests, gather loot, and develop distinct combat roles through equipment and skills. When conflict expands, you establish settlements, collect resources, train troll forces, and direct squads in real-time battles against hostile armies and monsters. The two layers alternate frequently: smaller encounters reward careful hero control and spell use, while large engagements demand positioning, unit counters, and enough economic planning to keep the war effort moving.

Its strongest feature is the troll-focused campaign, which gives the setting a fresh angle and makes its choices feel rooted in protecting a vulnerable community rather than simply saving the world. The RTS systems are more approachable than those in hardcore strategy games, but battles still punish careless scouting or sending heroes ahead without support. Detailed isometric environments, voiced story scenes, and a substantial standalone narrative make it feel like a full expansion rather than a minor side chapter. Players who enjoy the hybrid structure of Warcraft III or earlier SpellForce entries should feel at home, while newcomers get a self-contained campaign that does not require knowledge of the previous game.
