Game Overview

A corporate food experiment turns into a full-blown monster outbreak, and the answer is as loud as a laser cannon. Spidersaurs is a side-scrolling run-and-gun shooter that pits two unlikely heroes against ravenous dinosaur-and-spider mutants bred by the deeply irresponsible InGest Corporation. Its tone is gleefully ridiculous, mixing grotesque creature designs with the bright, hyperactive energy of a 1990s Saturday-morning cartoon. Beneath the jokes and catchy presentation sits a demanding arcade action game where enemies flood the screen, bosses fill arenas, and hesitation usually gets you eaten.

Players choose between punk musician Victoria and trainee officer Adrian, then fight through six compact but varied stages spanning jungles, laboratories, volcanic interiors, and other disastrous corporate facilities. Movement is fast and responsive, with running, jumping, shooting in multiple directions, and evasive maneuvers forming the foundation of every encounter. Weapons range from dependable spread shots and lasers to stranger options such as explosive footballs and music-powered blasts, giving each pickup a distinct tactical use against swarms and armored targets. Permanent abilities unlock during the campaign, while three difficulty settings let newcomers learn the rhythms of the action and give genre veterans a sterner test; a second player can join for cooperative chaos.

What separates Spidersaurs from a standard Contra-style throwback is its commitment to cartoon excess. Powerhouse Animation’s opening sequence and theme-song presentation give the campaign a real animated-series identity, while the mutant roster keeps throwing new silhouettes, attacks, and boss gimmicks at the player. Levels are short enough to encourage replaying them for cleaner runs, and unlockable Arcade and Speedrun modes add reasons to return after the credits. Fans of Contra, Metal Slug, and fast, colorful shooters should find plenty to enjoy, especially with a co-op partner, while solo players should expect a brisk but occasionally punishing reflex challenge.
