You mine materials, fabricate components, route electricity, regulate pressure and temperature, manage gas mixtures, grow food, and keep medical problems from escalating. Atmosphere simulation is especially central, with combustion, water, fires, decompression, and structural failures all capable of disrupting a station that looks perfectly functional on the surface. Advanced builds use logic devices, sensors, and programmable integrated circuits, including assembly-style coding, to automate doors, solar arrays, manufacturing chains, climate controls, and emergency responses. Flyable motherships expand the formula into mobile engineering projects, demanding reliable propulsion, life support, and defensive systems before they can safely travel beyond home.

What separates Stationeers from more accessible base builders is its willingness to treat engineering as the game rather than background flavor. Voxel terrain makes planets and asteroids physically mineable, while factories, farms, livestock, and environmental controls feed directly into the survival loop instead of acting as decorative extras. The learning curve is steep and early failures can be brutal, but solving a problem through careful planning feels far more satisfying than unlocking a prebuilt upgrade.
