A cursed superstore becomes a labyrinth of flickering aisles, locked departments, and things that only move when the lights fail. Storebound is a co-op puzzle horror game for one to three players, built around the uneasy idea that an ordinary shopping trip can turn into a desperate overnight escape. Its mood sits somewhere between the claustrophobic teamwork of Phasmophobia and the surreal commercial nightmare of a late-night urban legend. The story unfolds through four connected episodes, with more planned during Early Access, giving the mall’s strange rules and hostile presence room to slowly reveal themselves.

Each run sends your group through sprawling retail spaces in search of key items, circuit fuses, codes, and environmental clues needed to open the route forward. Puzzles regularly divide players across separate sections of the store, so proximity voice chat and walkie-talkie coordination become tools for survival as much as convenience; one person may read a sequence while another operates a distant machine. Darkness changes the rules, bringing out threats that react to sound and forcing teams to stop talking, hide in vents, and move carefully rather than simply outrun danger. Flashlights offer limited security, while restoring electricity creates brief safe windows, and the sanity system adds another layer of pressure by making fear affect perception and confidence.

What gives Storebound its identity is the way it turns communication into a liability. Friends can solve a problem together one moment, then become separated and afraid to make even a whispered callout the next, creating the kind of natural panic that scripted scares rarely match. Randomized item locations and obstacles, selectable difficulty settings, and unlockable abilities help keep repeat runs from becoming rote, although the currently available episode set is designed as a compact three-to-four-hour experience rather than an endless horror sandbox. It suits co-op groups who enjoy puzzle-solving under pressure, especially players who like Lethal Company-style coordination but want less comedy and a more oppressive, narrative-driven atmosphere.
