A cartoon World War battlefield becomes the stage for fast, silly, surprisingly tactical gunfights in Super Trench Attack! The Black Army is overrunning the homeland, and one reckless recruit is sent across the front line to stop them with bullets, boots, and an utter disregard for military decorum. Rather than chase grim realism, the game leans hard into crude jokes, exaggerated enemies, and bright, hand-drawn 2D presentation. It is an action shooter with an arcade pace, but its larger maps and optional secrets give the campaign more room to breathe than a simple corridor blaster.

Missions send you through four open combat zones, where you clear enemy positions, hunt objectives, survive shooting-gallery sequences, and take on oversized bosses. Shooting uses an unusual location-based targeting approach, allowing shots to hit heads, bodies, or even feet; a well-placed hit can matter as much as raw firepower. Weapons, traps, and helpful gear come from several in-game shops, letting you favor direct assault, defensive setups, or more chaotic battlefield tricks. A computer-controlled buddy accompanies the player in combat, while controller support and flexible keyboard layouts make the twitch-focused action accessible whichever control scheme feels natural.

The strongest feature is its willingness to make every military encounter feel ridiculous without abandoning responsive shooting fundamentals. Secret areas and varied mission types encourage players to poke around instead of merely sprinting toward the next objective, while the shop system adds some welcome experimentation to repeat runs. Its visual style and irreverent tone sit closer to Metal Slug’s cartoon war comedy than a serious tactical shooter, though the overhead combat and roaming maps give it its own identity. Players looking for a compact single-player action game, old-school challenge, and relentless nonsense will find plenty to enjoy, especially if they value personality over polish.
