Vancouver feels recognisable without ever feeling normal, while the painterly pixel-art presentation gives every alley, apartment, and waterfront view a melancholy atmosphere. Fans of Disco Elysium’s dialogue-heavy role-playing, Kentucky Route Zero’s surrealism, or the bleak detective tone of classic noir will find plenty to appreciate, though Tails Noir is more focused and less mechanically sprawling than those games. It suits newcomers to narrative adventures as well as veterans who want a thoughtful, often uncomfortable mystery where character matters more than clue-board puzzles.
