Souls collected from enemies determine how long you can sustain attacks and fuel powerful Break Soul techniques, creating a satisfying risk-and-reward rhythm in tougher fights. Between battles, you travel through interconnected regions, hunt monsters, gather equipment, develop character skills through gear mastery, and follow clearer destination guidance; the option to reduce or disable encounters also makes revisiting areas far less tedious.

What separates Tales of Berseria Remastered from many JRPGs is Velvet herself: she is not a wide-eyed savior, and the story does not pretend every problem has a clean moral answer. Its vivid cel-shaded presentation, energetic battle system, and character-focused writing hold up well, while the remastered refinements smooth out exploration and include bonus costume and equipment content drawn from the original release’s DLC.
