Revolution brews beneath the polished manners of an Old Regime society, and Jean Pierre de Saint-Cove fights it from both sides of the class divide. By day, he moves through aristocratic circles as a nobleman; behind a mask, he becomes the Black Hawk, a sarcastic vigilante stealing leverage from the powerful and returning hope to the oppressed. The Adventures of the Black Hawk is a traditional point-and-click adventure with a playful, deliberately theatrical tone, balancing social satire, absurd humor, and flashes of swashbuckling danger. Its three-chapter campaign treats political corruption seriously enough to give the story stakes, but never loses its fondness for ridiculous situations and colorful villains.

Most of the action revolves around investigating detailed scenes, speaking with a large cast of characters, collecting useful items, and combining objects to solve increasingly strange puzzles. Jean Pierre’s dual identity opens different conversational options and routes through the story, while occasional control of allies such as Mathieu and Violette Hulot adds welcome variety to the usual adventure-game routine. Dialogue is as important as inventory logic: players gather clues, bluff their way past suspicious people, and exploit the nobility’s hidden secrets to advance. Sword duels and shooting sequences break up the puzzle solving, while HQ points reward progress through both main objectives and optional challenges.

More than thirty hand-crafted locations and over sixty characters give the adventure a broad, bustling sense of place, from privileged salons to corners where public anger is beginning to boil. Its strongest appeal lies in its open affection for 1980s and 1990s adventure games, using stylized scenes, a large original soundtrack, puzzle-heavy progression, and humorous dialogue rather than cinematic spectacle. Expect some classic genre experimentation, including talking to everyone and trying unusual item combinations when the solution is unclear. Fans of Monkey Island, Broken Sword, or other old-school comedic adventures should find plenty to enjoy, especially if they value clever writing and dense puzzle design over fast-paced action.
